September 13, Day one Narita, Japan to Halifax, Nova Scotia

I was finally able to take my family back to Atlantic Canada from September 13-22, 2013. These blog postings will show our trip and give advice on places to visit. Any opinions of places visited or stayed are of my own opinion and I have not recieved payment from any of these places.
The Japanese National Tourism Organisation had this woman dressed as a Maiko/Geisha near a souvenier shop. I'll call her Kumi.

United Airlines flight, was actually really good. The food was fine, and with the new entertainment system, the flight passed by quickly. Good thing as it was 11 hours.

We left our home in Kamagaya on Friday, September 13, at about 11am and took the Hokuso-Kodan line's Narita Sky Access from Shin-Kamagaya to Narita Airport Terminal 1 station. Once at Nartia airport, we checked in for our flight. We used HIS travel service as my wife has always done so. HIS was able to help us arrange our flights and car rental with Hertz and I must say, when I go back again, I will be doing this again!
We flew United Airlines from Narita-O'Hare International in Chicago. We then had a four hour layover which was fine as it gave us time to go through security, and grab a bite to eat. We then took a flight from O'Hare to Robert Stanfield International Airport in Halifax, Nova Scotia. After clearing Canadian customs, we then took a shuttle bus to Holiday Inn Express, Halifax Airport.

This charming hotel provides a free breakfast, sports workout room and heated indoor pool. The hotel does not have a restaurant but does have an onsite convience store which has canned foods, frozen TV dinners, snacks and drinks. The airport also has a 24hour Tim Hortons Coffee and donuts shop which has baked goods and sandwhiches which can be taken with you. As well on arrival to check in, the lobby provides either apples, bananas or freshly baked cookies! There was also a large picher of ice water! You may use the microwave in their breakfast dining area to heat up foods you have brought from outside as well.
Getting ready to tuck into my first Canadian style breakfast in nine years!

The rooms were very well put together, great amenities. I would highly reccomend this hotel due to the fact that it is extremely family friendly, close to the airport and is only 25km from downtown Halifax. It it 6km from the terminal building but is served by a shuttle bus which runs 24 hours with buses running once every 15 minutes.
