Dollar Lake summer season 2022

 First time since 2019 I got back to my favorite lake.

Shubenacadie Canal The Deep Cut to Lake Charles

 

This is the mouth of the Deep Cut into Lake Charles at Port Wallis, Dartmouth Nova Scotia. The area is now a recreation area, just 50 meters to the right of this area is a public beach. 250 meters to the left is a camp ground, the only one in metro Halifax Regional Municipality.

Nothing like some spicy ramen to start work

Wondering if the local DNR office is in distress or somebody goofed with flying our provincial flag

I was also able to camp out in the campground. Now while the dish washing area and water was unsafe to drink I knew this in advance and brought sufficient water.

However the showers were free and they were 

Clean as was the toilet. After a supper of hot dogs cooked in my mess tin in my stove, I curled up in my RAV as it had rain in the forecast.

I had a great sleep and plan on going back.

Maybe swim if the algae bloom is gone.

I also met a couple from Germany and a Korean immigrant couple. 

Not just BBQ when camping or in field

 

While a lot of campers may buy the freeze dried stuff, nothing beats having fresh made food.

Also helps if you have a cooler and access to a fridge. 

Woods Insta Tent

I set the tent up in my garage 

 I had a family crisis this week due to the pandemic so I had to isolate myself from them. As such I bought this tent. Now I had been planning on buying a Quecha tent but this one was half the price.

I have yet to set it up, but I'll get on that on my days off. However I'm going to be busy this summer. 

This one should be better than the first one I bought from a surplus shop. And it was easier to set up, just need to work on taking it down.

I've also camped outside with this tent and it's a good one. Stayed dry, the morning dew didn't seep in.and the head lamp is rechargeable

So my family was in isolation due to the pandemic so I improvised some rations from the Asian markets in the city. My butane stove did a good job. I still have food to make stir fry at work as well.

RAV 4 camping

 I've done some day, nap camping recently but I was able to use my vehicle as a place to sleep after a long night shift. I was in a safe place, and was able to curl up. 

I'll be documenting some day trips this summer with my rig. Stay tuned. 

With the price of gas and wanting to keep mileage down I've been able to do camping at least every week this summer.
